Hope everyone is having a great day even with the gloomy grey skies.

Front Page

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

I forgot to mention that one of the treasury lists I made was on the front page of Etsy last Saturday. I was really surprised when I was on break checking my etsy and received a few messages from people thanking me and congratulating me on making the front page. How exciting!

I guess that's all I really have for now. It's been somewhat of an uneventful week. A few sales here and there, but nothing like what I was seeing the last couple of months before Christmas. But I guess that happens. Just plugging away.

Here's something to cheer you up and remember that spring will come even though it's been below zero here. It's been reaaaaaaaaly cold! This cute little robin comes from TinyKiwiCreations.

Hope you are having a great day!

So excited!!

Thursday, January 17, 2013

I'm excited to announce that we are now selling illustrated prints of these cute animals in our shop. I feel so proud to show you what I have been working on these past few weeks. I love doing my linocut prints but I am glad to get back to my design background and create these awesome creatures.

You can view them all at my Etsy shop here

Oh, I also made some new Linocut prints too.

On a side note, we finally got a washer and dryer! We bought our house last August and have been doing our laundry at Andrew's office up in N. Saint Paul (which is a hassle). After saving up for the last couple of months and few other break downs in the house we finally got them!! I've never been so excited to do laundry.

Hope you all have an equally exciting Thursday!

Depeapa

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

I found this shop on Etsy and have fallen in love with her work. I love the lines she creates and how you can see her style shine through in every piece. I would definitely put some of her work up on my walls (which are pretty empty right now).

Veronica de Arriba is the artist behind Depeapa and she makes illustrated prints, tea towels, t-shirts, brooches and necklaces, tote bags and notebooks.

You can view her work at her shop or through her website

Enjoy today's etsy find!

Sneak Peek: Eye Patch Morty

Friday, January 11, 2013

Here's a print I'm working on: Eye Patch Morty, a one eyed cat. It's not my usual linocut which I think is refreshing. I haven't done real design work on the computer in sooo long. It feels good. Not sure if it is something that I am going to sell or if it will inspire a whole new series.

What do you think?

I wish days were longer...sometimes

Lately, I have had so many ideas and thoughts running around and wishing I had more time to develop them. But between work and (some) lack of motivation I have not done as much as I would like. Bummer.

I am trying to make goals for myself and see if that will help get me moving in the right track. But until then, here are some picture of the kitties doing what they do best.

She's a naughty
(please excuse the mess on the table)

This is one of Kitten's favorite spots to be.

Well, I think that's enough kitty pics. Seeing as I don't have kids (yet!) these are my little kiddos.

I came across this...

I came across a link to this interview with fiber artist Richard Saja, who is doing some really inspirational things with embroidery and tuille. I really connect with his work just for the fine embroidery work. He quoted: "I found the perfect outlet for my OCD inclinations and overall fastidiousness: embroidery. Having no natural talent for painting or drawing, I found that a needle and floss allowed me to accomplish very similar results and that I actually did have some innate talent for it."

I kind of feel the same as I cannot paint to save my life and embroidery with yarn and thread is my way of painting.I love to just sit down for a few hours and just sew french knots into canvas. Guess I like the tediousness of it.

Looking at his work really makes me want to get back into something I have been neglecting for a few years now. I just dont have the time or I have some other project that seems more urgent at the time.

Here's a link to the interview of you're into it as much as I am.

Howdy!
